I agree with amyb96 because women not being able to have abortions is violating their rights. They should be able to make choices freely on their own and not be forced to do things that they do not want to do. Taking away abortion is taking away their right to freely make important life decisions.

I completely agree with you, felicity. there are many different situations that you have to consider when discussing legalizing abortion. theres a big difference between a13 year old getting raped and being pregnant and a 22 year old have unprotected sex and getting pregnant. the 22 year old would most likely get an abortion because shes afraid of having a baby at 22, even though she did it to herself. this is what most anti-abortion people want to avoid, but then what about the 13 year that got raped? why should she have to have the baby? she doesnt deserve it !

I agree with felicity because the women should have the right to choose whether or not they want to have an abortion. Based on the circumstances of a 13-year-old, I think it would be better off for the girl to have the abortion because if she had the baby at age 13, she would most likely drop out of school to take care of the baby. The baby would not have equal opportunities as other children because of its mother not finishing highschool. The girl would have a better life if she finished school than if she dropped out. just because abortion is legalized doesnt mean that all of the people pregnant will have an abortion. It is a choice that some people choose to make and others dont.

I agree with javier because a 13 year old would not be capable of raising a child and if she was raped, she would not deserve the burden of having the baby. It is unfair for anyone to tell a woman that they have to have a baby, even when it will be highly difficult for them to be in charge of that responsibility. The effect on the mother would most likely destroy her life and make it nearly impossible to be successful while having the burden of raising a baby at a young age.

I agree with javier and pete because the 13-year-old should not have to raise the child if she was unfairly impregnated. She didnt choose to become pregnant because she was raped. In cases like this, it is important for the victim to have the choice to abort the baby because she should get the same opportunities in life as other kids her age and not have to drop out of school to raise a child because of something that happend unfairly to her.

yeahhhhh people say that the woman should just set the baby up for adoption but still like pete and joey said the woman still has to carry the burden of carrying the baby for 9 months. she shouldnt have to do that.

I disagree with amy, because it doesn't matter if the mother wanted to get pregnant or not. This of course is different in the case of rape, but rape only accounts for 1% of all abortions. For all of the other women, they consented to having sex, so they are responsible for the outcome. Women do not have the right to kill the unborn child, because that unborn child is a seperate human being, and so it isn't within a woman's rights to decide what happens to it.

Frank, I disagree. And I must ask because I am highly curious.. Why is rape different? Why is it okay to kill the potential life in this situation? It would still seem as if it has the potential to life, wouldnt it? and the potential life did not choose who its father is. the potential life did not ask for its father to be a rapist. I don't see your logic here. I think that the woman should have a right to terminate the pregnancy in this case... but i don't understand why somebody seemingly as prolife as you would agree with me, prochoice.

I agree with Felicity that we should look at all the different scenarios and think about what could we do if we where in the person's shoes. We can try to have empathy but that is impossible if we aren't the person going through the situation. Also to agree with Felicity I would say you can't be black and white about such a black and white topic there has to be some room along the line. What we do know is that we can express our own views if we haven't gone through the situation but imagine what you do if you where in that situation.

Same with what felicity is saying, even though a fetus should have own rights, and the right to live like every human, but if an abortion is prevented with a pill before, than its not even killing the fetus, its preventing from sperm and egg cells to join into a zygote, so its not even practicly a living thing, i think that people if could and have the ability to use pills expecially woman should ingage in them. Also if their choice is abortions should choose it if its the best resolution to the problem

I agree with the statements above about the idea that being pro life does not mean that one is anti feminist or anti women. It seemly means that their beliefs are centered around the potential life of the child and this life is the most important thing at hand. To many people, life is more important than the circumstances of women which is something I agree with. No matter what problems or issues that a women may be facing, life is greater and more important. Even if the women is really young and only a girl, the life of the child should still be preserved. Yes, it is a tough burden on the mother, but no burden can equal that of death. Plus the option of abortion is available which will prevent the hardships that the mother and child may have to go through. With all of this in mind, this view is not against women in any way it is just proposing the cultivating of life.

I think that whether your religion teaches you that abortion is wrong or if you are pro-choice, that there are always going to be exceptions and loop holes to what we may believe. I am a strict believer that men should not have an opinion on this topic, simply because they will never be able to experience the hardships or endure the other feelings, while deciding to have an abortion. And I am aware that that sounds hipocritical, seeing as I am expressing my opinion about the topic, however this is a graded assignment. Although men do play a part in this topic, I do not believe that their part is big enough to count, however they should still be held responsible for their actions that led to the pregnancy. I also believe that religion should have no part in a womans decision on whether to have an abortion or not, and this is because I dont believe that a 3000 year old book can tell a person whether having an abortion or going through with the pregnancy is right or not. The same goes for the magesterium. I dont think that a group of men who probably have never had a personal encounter with someone who is deciding to have an abortion, has any right to tell a woman what she should do. Although its highly controversial, like I said before there are always exceptions to rules, and in such a circumstance as rape, a woman must make a decision that will be best for her future.

GOD GAVE MOSES THE TEN COMMANDMENTS AND THE FIFTH ONE SAID "THOU SHALL NOT KILL" ^It does not say, "thou shall not kill, [glow=red,2,300]but[/glow] you can make exceptions at times." Killing is wrong. Only God knows when our time is up. As for RAPE: there are many situations when a child does not have a father who is present. For example: when a father goes to war, when a father dies, when parents become divorced. Does this mean that when one of these situations arise a child (no matter the age) should be killed? Because that appears to be the argument that you, who are supporting abortion after rape, are saying. Also, rape is wrong (i assume we all agree with that), and killing is wrong (we should all agree with that). Why would you justify rape with killing someone, that is not cool.

Ok, apparently someone (^Nick:) thinks this issue is black and white. That's fine. Funny how much killing there is in the Bible to go along with the 10 Commandments. I have a lot more to say on these topics...maybe later hopefully. But at the end of the day, I think it should be left up to each woman to make this morality-related decision. We women don't want the Republican party, who claims to be against big government, probing around in our vaginas with invasive ultrasounds.
