Is it possible for warfare to ever respect the dignity of human life?

Yes I believe that war can be okay in some cases because when regarding human life, I believe that the greater good of the whole people out weighs the small death total. If America did not go help out in WWII than the killing of millions of Jews could have gone on for a while. It was necessary to go into war putting our men at risk to help a helpless good of individuals.

Yes I agree whit Jeanine. World War II is a perfect example of when the dignity of human life should be upheld. Another example of this could be the Civil War. The Union decided to go to war to establish and protect the rights of African-Americans.

I am going to have to have to disagree with everyone, because I don't think that taking a human's life is dignityed during combat. And we always go to war for the wrong reason the US did not step In to help the Jews in WWII we stepped in because we were attack and our nation safety was at risk. So I believe that warfare can never be done in a human dignity until we stop fighting.

I agree with Jeanine and Micah, but I also believe that to respect human dignity, the violence has to be limited to those who volunteer themselves as soldiers and that no civilians should be harmed.

I do agree with Jeanine. Although in war therre are human lives being taken, there should still be a respect for human life by defending ones own nation. War, unfortunately, is a part of the world today and though I think we all wish it wasn't, we can still approach with the respect for human dignity.

according to the principles of catholic social teachings, the only means of a just war is when the war is started and fought over the protection of the weak, or the oppressed. I believe that this is true, because we have a moral obligation to help those in need.

Yes, particularly if it is working to put a stop to human rights violations.
